Google launches Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash with 360p draft video mode at roughly one-third the cost

Google officially launched Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash on August 27, 2026, delivering improvements in both quality and speed for generative video and conversational video editing.

The multimodal model accepts text, image, or reference video prompts to generate or edit video outputs. In 1.1 Flash, Google emphasizes enhanced contextual understanding from preceding footage, maintaining greater consistency in characters, appearance, and visual elements across continuous scenes.

Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash can extend videos up to 40 seconds in total and introduces First/Last Frame Control, allowing creators to define clear starting and ending points for scenes—such as directing camera angles, motion, or transitions between two images.

In terms of resolution, the model supports outputs ranging from 360p to 4K. A key cost-saving feature is the 360p draft mode, designed for testing prompts and refining clip directions before rendering high-resolution files. According to the source, this draft mode costs roughly one-third of higher resolutions like 720p, enabling users to iterate multiple times without paying full price.

Google positions Gemini Omni as a premium video model focused on control and multimodality, whereas Veo is tailored for more cost-sensitive workflows.
