Atlantic Health partners with K Health to launch PatientGPT, an AI health advisor powered by real patient medical records

Major New Jersey hospital system launches a medical AI platform connected to real patient health histories for personalized advice, paired with 24/7 same-day virtual doctor visits.

Atlantic Health System, a major healthcare network in New Jersey, USA, has partnered with clinical AI technology company K Health to launch two AI-powered healthcare platforms simultaneously: Atlantic Health PatientGPT and Virtual Primary Care.

PatientGPT is a medical AI system that serves as a primary patient communication channel. Unlike typical health chatbots, it connects to electronic health record (EHR) systems via Epic MyChart, enabling it to provide genuinely 'personalized' health advice based on each patient's medical history, current medications, and underlying conditions, rather than just performing generic searches like Google.

Meanwhile, Virtual Primary Care offers continuous virtual primary care services — once PatientGPT assesses symptoms and determines a doctor visit is necessary, the system connects the patient with an Atlantic Health physician on the same day, 24/7.

Both services entered their beta phase in August 2026 before expanding across New Jersey and surrounding areas. This was confirmed by an official statement from Atlantic Health System, as well as healthcare media outlets including Becker's Hospital Review, HIT Consultant, and Fierce Healthcare.
