MacRumors reported on August 26, 2026, that Apple has begun using an AI assistant on its 1-800-APL-CARE Apple Support line in the United States and Canada. Callers may speak with a voice system powered by Generative AI—which creates new responses based on their questions—instead of the existing basic automated system.
The assistant is designed to answer questions about Apple products, help troubleshoot issues, and provide detailed step-by-step instructions. Unlike conventional automated phone systems, it can hold conversations and tailor guidance to the problem described rather than relying solely on fixed menu options.

An anonymous source claimed that Apple partnered with Sierra AI to develop the virtual assistant, but MacRumors said it could not confirm the claim.
