Vertu launches Alphafold, a foldable AI smartphone for executives starting at over 250,000 THB
Vertu unveils Alphafold, a luxury foldable smartphone featuring an integrated AI Agent for executives, starting at $6,880.
Luxury mobile brand Vertu has returned with the "Alphafold," a foldable smartphone targeting top-tier executives. Its key feature is an AI Agent designed specifically for enterprise workflows. The base calfskin model starts at $6,880 (approx. 253,000 THB), while premium bespoke versions featuring alligator leather, 18K gold, and diamonds can reach up to $46,800 (approx. 1.7 million THB).
At the heart of the Alphafold is "Hermes Agent," built on the open-source Hermes project by Nous Research. It is designed to integrate directly with enterprise systems like ERP and CRM, allowing users to perform complex tasks via natural language, such as document approval, scheduling, sales tracking, travel planning, and report generation.
Hardware-wise, the device features an 8.05-inch inner foldable display and a 6.53-inch cover screen. There is some confusion regarding the chipset; while launch reports cited the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, some hands-on reviews identified it as the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Security remains a focal point; Vertu claims a privacy-focused architecture using an A5 security chip to isolate authentication keys and corporate data from the main OS. However, the company admits the system has not yet been audited or certified by independent third parties, a critical consideration for a device handling sensitive corporate information.
This case highlights the shift toward niche AI development, evolving from general-purpose assistants to specialized enterprise tools, while demonstrating how AI can be leveraged to drive value in the luxury goods market.
