D’Addario admits to using AI for guitar string promo music after weeks of denial
Renowned musical instrument company D’Addario admits to using AI tools in a promotional video after denying allegations for nearly two weeks.
D'Addario, the renowned guitar string and accessory manufacturer, has admitted to using the AI (artificial intelligence) tool Suno Studio to regenerate music used as part of a promotional video for its NYXL HD guitar strings.
Previously, the company had denied public backlash and allegations for nearly two weeks, despite mounting evidence and growing suspicion. The company had previously blamed the anomalies on various reasons, such as low-quality file export issues or the stacking of multiple plugins like Autotune that made the audio sound AI-generated.
Most recently, D’Addario issued a public apology, admitting that it provided inaccurate information, reaffirming its stance that it does not support AI-generated music, and announcing that it will use this incident to improve its creative review processes moving forward.
Highlights the sensitivity and expectations of the music community regarding AI usage in creative work, signaling that music instrument brands must exercise caution when communicating with consumers.
