Google DeepMind creates special hiring channel after AI screening system incorrectly rejects top talent
The AGI Safety team under DeepMind reveals internal documents suggesting a special channel to bypass Google's AI resume screening, which may mistakenly filter out candidates.
Bloomberg reports that the AGI Safety and Alignment team under Google DeepMind has created a special secondary application form allowing applicants to submit their resumes directly to the team.
According to leaked internal documents, the reason for this special channel is that Google's main automated resume screening system has a significant chance of incorrectly filtering out well-qualified candidates or taking too long for applications to reach the screening team. The document also warns applicants not to use Large Language Models (LLMs) or AI tools to help write their answers, as human reviewers are growing weary of overly repetitive response formats.
However, a Google DeepMind spokesperson denied the claims, clarifying that the main screening system did not malfunction and that the special form was created simply to streamline the process of sending resumes directly to the team.
It highlights the limitations of AI systems used for recruitment in large organizations. Even a leading AI company like DeepMind faces issues with automated system errors, forcing them to find ways to bypass their parent company's system.
