Former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke Launches 'Entire', Raises $60 Million to Build Decentralized Git Network for the AI Era
Former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke launches new startup 'Entire' with up to $60 million in seed funding to build a decentralized Git network addressing bottlenecks caused by AI agents needing to access vast amounts of code.
Thomas Dohmke, former GitHub CEO who led the company for four years until August 2025, has launched a new company named 'Entire'. Its goal is to build a platform for developers in the era of AI agents. Dohmke co-founded Entire with Cole Driver, former Deputy Chief of Staff at GitHub.
Entire announced its seed funding round in February 2026, raising up to $60 million USD and valuing the company at $300 million. Felicis Ventures stated this is the largest seed investment ever for a developer tools startup. The company currently operates fully remotely with over 40 employees across 9 countries.
Entire's first product is a Distributed Git Network, designed to address the heavy workload centralized systems like GitHub face as AI agents frequently need to clone and pull code from large repositories, leading to bottlenecks. Entire's approach allows developers to mirror their GitHub repositories to Entire's network in a single step. The original code remains in place, but AI agents can retrieve data from a closer and faster copy on Entire's network, which is initially available in the US, Europe, and Australia.
The growth of AI is straining fundamental developer tools like Git with enormous workloads. The creation of a decentralized network by a former GitHub leader could be a significant step in building new infrastructure for the future of programming.
