Notion launches 'Notion Agents,' a standalone personal AI assistant app on iOS, offering interchangeable GPT, Claude, and Gemini models
The new app serves as an AI assistant, capable of answering questions and managing tasks directly from a user's Notion data via mobile chat.
Notion, the popular developer of note-taking and task management apps, launched a new standalone application called "Notion Agents" on the iOS operating system on July 7, 2026. The app is available for free download with in-app purchase options.
Notion Agents is designed as an AI (Artificial Intelligence) assistant that users can access at any time through a chat interface. Its primary function is to answer questions and retrieve information from all of the user's Notion workspaces, including documents, databases, and various projects. It can also connect with other tools the user employs. Users can input commands in multiple ways, including typing text, using voice commands, or even uploading images for the Agent to help manage or organize information.
A key highlight is the flexibility in choosing the underlying AI model. Notion does not restrict users to a single vendor's model but allows them to switch between leading Large Language Models (LLMs) as needed, including OpenAI's GPT, Anthropic's Claude, and Google's Gemini.
The launch of Notion Agents coincides with the announcement of the discontinuation of the Notion Mail app, which will cease service on September 22, 2026. This move reflects a strategic pivot by the company, choosing to focus its efforts on AI-driven workflows as its core, rather than competing in the email market.
The standalone app signals Notion's clear strategic shift towards making AI central to its future products, rather than just an add-on feature. It offers Notion users a new, efficient mobile option for managing data and tasks.
