Slack launches Slack Code, enabling teams to co-code with AI via Vibe-coding in a single chat
Slack elevates software development with the launch of 'Slack Code', allowing teams and AI agents to collaborate instantly in dedicated chat rooms.
Slack, the popular communication platform, has announced 'Slack Code', a new feature designed to support 'Vibe-coding' (coding through natural language prompts alongside AI) in a multiplayer format, replacing isolated workflows in terminals or IDEs.
Slack Code is initiated when a user tags an AI agent in a conversation. The system then creates a dedicated 'Code Channels' project room, allowing team members to track progress, review side-by-side code diffs, preview live HTML results before delivery, and collaboratively adjust prompts all in one place.
The feature supports integration with leading AI agents and models from various companies, including Claude Code from Anthropic, Devin from Cognition, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT from OpenAI, and Vercel Agent.
Regarding security, Slack incorporates a human-in-the-loop system where pushing code or deploying to production always requires team sign-off. Additionally, once a project is complete, the channel is automatically archived with audit logs retained for search and compliance. This feature is available across all Slack tiers.
