Linforge, a new AI app, turns Anki vocabulary into real English conversations
Introducing Linforge, an AI coach app designed to solve the problem of knowing vocabulary but being unable to speak, by pulling data from Anki to create real conversational scenarios.
In the language learning community, users of the popular flashcard program Anki often struggle with having a passive vocabulary in their minds without being able to use it for real communication. A new application named "Linforge" has recently been launched specifically to bridge this gap.
Linforge's main highlight is its ability to import `.apkg` vocabulary deck files into the system, allowing artificial intelligence to use those words to generate role-play and simulation scenarios for English speaking practice, such as simulated job interviews, ordering coffee, or travel situations.
Additionally, the app features real-time speaking feedback to detect and correct grammatical errors, phoneme-level pronunciation scoring, and a Vision LM function that lets users point their camera at surrounding objects so the AI can immediately initiate a conversation about that object in English.
Regarding pricing, Linforge is available as a free download with an initial 150 credits, with options for a monthly or yearly Linforge Pro subscription as well as additional credit packages for heavy users.
This is an interesting tool for learners who have memorized a large vocabulary for tests like TOEIC or IELTS but still struggle with everyday conversational fluency, leveraging existing data they already have in Anki.
