Anthropic's AI Assistant, Claude Cowork, Expands to Mobile and Web
Anthropic has launched Claude Cowork, its collaborative AI assistant, on mobile apps and websites, improving workflow continuity from desktop to mobile.
Anthropic has officially announced the expansion of Claude Cowork (a collaborative AI assistant) access from its previous desktop-only app to mobile and web platforms. Max plan users gained early access starting July 7, with a rollout to other plan users expected in the coming weeks. This update allows users to initiate complex tasks on their computers, monitor progress or receive notifications via mobile, and retrieve completed work even after closing their computer. According to Anthropic's data from over 1.2 million real-world uses, the largest usage category for Cowork is business process operations (33.4%), followed by content creation and writing (16.4%), while software development accounts for only 8.7%. For tasks requiring direct access to local computer files, the desktop app will remain the primary option. Additionally, Anthropic has doubled Cowork usage quotas for users until August 5.
This expansion indicates that AI tools are becoming ubiquitous assistants, no longer confined to the desktop, making collaboration with AI more seamless and convenient in daily life.
