Circles, the telecom technology company behind mobile virtual network operator brand Circles.Life, has disclosed results from adopting OpenAI's technology to power AI-native customer experiences, citing concrete figures: a 22% increase in average revenue per user (ARPU), a 9% reduction in churn, and a 29% improvement in software development efficiency.

At the heart of the system is AI Concierge, an intelligent conversational assistant built on the OpenAI API platform, which provides personalized recommendations and customer care in place of traditional customer service. Behind AI Concierge is the CareX architecture, a multi-agent system (multiple AI agents working together) that can automatically resolve up to 65% of all customer cases.

Circles measured the impact systematically by comparing customers who received AI recommendations with those who did not, finding that the AI group saw ARPU rise 22% through plan upgrades and add-on service subscriptions, while churn dropped 9% because recommendations arrived at the right time and matched customer needs. These figures were measured from the initial deployment with Circles.Life in Singapore.

Beyond customer-facing products, Circles also uses Codex, OpenAI's AI coding tool, internally to accelerate engineering work, reporting that Codex boosted development efficiency by 29%.

However, all of these results come from disclosures by Circles and OpenAI themselves via a joint press release, so they should be viewed as a vendor-side case study rather than an independent evaluation.

Why it matters
This is a clear case study showing AI does more than just answer chats—it can genuinely increase revenue and retain customers for telecom businesses, something Thai mobile operators are also pursuing as they turn to AI-driven personalization.
