Toolport: Open-Source MCP Gateway Brings All Your AI Agent Tools into One Place
A new open-source tool for developers that acts as an intermediary for managing MCP servers, helping reduce Tool-list bloat that consumes AI Agent tokens
Toolport (formerly known as Conduit) is an open-source Local MCP (Model Context Protocol) Gateway that recently launched on Product Hunt, developed by the team at Southbound Software. It serves as an intermediary for managing and connecting MCP servers to various AI clients.
The problem Toolport solves is Tool-list bloat — when an AI Agent connects to a large number of tools, the system must send the entire tool list to the AI with every command, unnecessarily wasting tokens. Toolport consolidates all tools behind a single Gateway, reducing processing overhead and allowing developers to configure MCP just once for all their AI Agents, under the concept of 'Every tool, one port'.
The development team states that the tool focuses specifically on security and tool management for developers, and it is currently being discussed in AI developer communities such as Reddit as a case study in managing MCP within Claude Code workflows.
Note that the name 'Toolport' is also used by an automated warehouse management tool (MATRIX ToolPort), which is a completely different product from this AI software — don't confuse the two.
For Thai developers using AI Agents or Claude Code in real-world work, Toolport helps reduce token costs and simplifies tool configuration at no cost, since it's open source.
