Firecrawl, the developer of web scraping tools for AI, has launched the new Firecrawl MCP Server, a server built on Anthropic's MCP (Model Context Protocol) standard. It allows AI agents such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf to access data from websites directly and in real time, without relying solely on data memorized during training.
The server's core capabilities cover four functions: Search, Scrape individual web pages, Crawl entire websites, and Extract structured data. Results are converted into AI-friendly formats such as Markdown or JSON, allowing agents to use the data immediately.
The tool's key goal is to reduce hallucination—where AI fabricates false information—and the problem of outdated language model data, since AI can now have a "tool" to fetch the latest information from the live web through a single shared standard.
