X Launches New Video Editing Tool on iOS, Aiming to Reduce Reposted Content

X is rolling out a new in-app video editing and recording tool for iOS users to encourage original content creation and combat content copying.

X (formerly Twitter) is gradually making its new Video Editor and Recorder available to iOS users directly within the app. This feature is designed to encourage creators to produce their own original content instead of reposting others' videos. The new tool includes interesting capabilities such as multi-language captions with customizable styles and a green-screen feature. This allows users to utilize images from their phone's photo library or even other posts on X as a background while recording videos. This move is part of an effort to tackle the 'copycat economy,' a significant problem on the platform that thrives on content replication. Nikita Bier, X's Head of Product, stated, "One of our top priorities is to provide creators with tools to create original content and to reward those creators," adding, "We have many more updates coming to the video editor in the coming weeks." Initially, this feature will be available on iOS, as the Android app version is currently undergoing new development.
